Project Description

Chipping Agricultural Show – Saturday the 26th August 2023

Chipping Agricultural Show celebrates all aspects of farming and rural life with classes for sheep, cattle, light horses, ponies and shire horses plus poultry, pigeon and egg sections. There are also classes for cheeses, handicrafts, cakes and preserves, a large horticultural section plus children’s, dog and baby sections. It offers the perfect day out for the whole family, with over 50 trade stands and a craft marquee packed with local rural crafts there is something for everyone. Come and sample the cuisine in the speciality food producers marquee, there are vintage vehicles on show plus entertainment for children and main arena attractions throughout the day. Dogs are welcome and their owners can enter them in the Dog Show on the day. With the backdrop of Parlick Fell the show ground is a 5 minute walk from the centre of Chipping village which is in the picturesque Forest of Bowland AONB. The show is clearly signposted from Longridge and Clitheroe directions. Motorway access is via J31a from the south and J32 from the north.

No matter what the weather, the Showfield provides a spectacular venue with rugged Parlick to the rear and the green slopes of Longridge Fell in the foreground. With easy accessibility and good parking, Chipping Show brings the delights of the countryside to within easy reach of all.

For those of us who love seeing the animals there will be the usual quality display of sheep, cattle and poultry. For the pet owner, young or old, there is Chipping Show’s rather special Dog Show and for the horse lovers there will be classes for both ridden and in-hand animals from the little Shetland Ponies to giant Shire Horses. In the marquees can be found such delights as the Cheese Show, Food Hall, local crafts, W.I. and Children’s Competitions and the Horticultural Show.

During the day the Main Ring will house several special events as well as the Judging of many of the Animal Classes culminating in the presentation of the Cups and Awards and ultimately The Traditional Egg Catching Competition.
