The Forest of Bowland is a wild and exiting place to visit. Offering exposed moorland and picturesque valleys with streams and rivers to explore.

The Forest of Bowland is located in the northern part of rural Lancashire. North of the Ribble valley.  It has been granted status of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is the 11th largest AONB in England extending to covering 803 square kilometres (312 square miles) of rural land in the counties of Lancashire (730 sq km) and Yorkshire (73 sq km).  Our Luxury Holiday Cottages are located at the foot of the Bowland fells, Wolf Fell, Saddle Fell, Parlick Pike, Fairsnape and Bleasdale fell are all easily accessible from Wolfen Mill Country Retreats.

With many unspoilt and truely local villages to visit and explore a visit to the Forest of Bowland is a strong recommendation. Our own village of Chipping is a fine example with local pubs and a handful or original shops, you can walk, eat drink and stay all from the one place.

Local Villages include, Slaidburn, Newton by Bowland, Bolton by Bowland, Chaigley, Dunsop Bridge, Bashall Eves, Whitewell, Whalley and Hurst Green to name but a few. All have random stone built cottages and make for a great holiday visit.
